There are many different types of swimming pools. Vinyl liner is one of the most common ones around the Columbus area but you do often see concrete, stainless steel, and fiberglass. Vinyl liner repairs are one of the easiest and cost-effective pool styles. Underwater patches can be made for temporary patches and vinyl liner replacements would be a permanent solution.
Concrete pools get a little bit more costly two part underwater epoxy can be used for a temporary patch but permanent repair would be crack injection on stress cracks caused by settling. In the scene between the floor and the wall of the pool, which are usually two dissimilar materials; concrete fiberglass and concrete stainless steel. That seam often needs grinded out and replaced with new sealant and sealed with a two-part epoxy paint.
Fiberglass pools can also be patched underwater with temporary epoxy but often the only permanent repair is replacing the pool if a leak is bad enough.
All three different pool styles all have underground plumbing that are also subject to leaks. Most common leaks on pool plumbing is freeze breaks from improper winterization in ground settling and shifting causing stress brakes on pipe and fittings. Both spot repair and line replacements can be made in that situation.
